All this past week we have been setting up and getting ready for Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway. Yesterday was show time and, let me just say, it was awesome. Yes, it was a long day at the theatre and yes, I am very tired. But you know what? It was most definitely worth it! I, of course, love Broadway, and getting to spend the day with 4 Broadway stars and being a part of putting on their show was such a great experience. From the moment they arrived with the causal introduction of "Hi! I'm Neil!" (Neil? As in, composer/lyricist/the person whose name is not above the title, but actually is the title of this show? Yes, that was him!) to a final thank you photo, the cast was as nice as can be. During the actual show, I was a spot op. (I ended up getting both tap numbers! Don't worry, I managed to stay on the guy!). Being a spot op, I actually got to see this whole show, which I could not have been more thrilled about (It was, after all, a Broadway show! Side note: usually, I only get to see the last 20 or so minutes of the shows). They sang many songs from Chicago, Hair, and Phantom of the Opera and threw in some favorites from Rent, Brigadoon, and Sound of Music. All in all, it was a great evening bringing Broadway entertainment to central Illinois.
